KETV NewsWatch 7 helps Omaha commuters save time and money with Beat the Traffic®

KETV NewsWatch 7 debuts 3-D on-air traffic solution to highlight traffic incidents and delays

Omaha, Nebraska and Campbell, California May 6th, 2008 – With gasoline costs skyrocketing, avoiding lengthy traffic delays has become an even bigger concern for the region’s travelers and commuters.   To help its viewers plan their days and avoid traffic trouble spots, KETV NewsWatch 7’s Traffic To Go has launched its new Beat the Traffic® reporting system.   KETV is using the award-winning solution to create easy-to-understand animated 3-D traffic maps showing current road speeds, traffic incidents and travel times. The system is featured in KETV NewsWatch 7 First News Traffic To Go updates throughout the morning and anytime on the internet at www.KETV.com/traffictogo.

Omaha drivers lost over 9 million hours and over 5 million gallons of gas due to rush hour traffic in 2005, according to the Texas Transportation Institute 2007 study.  By showing drivers traffic congestion and speeds before they leave, KETV NewsWatch 7 Traffic To Go helps drivers make better decisions about when to leave and what route to take – or at least know when they will arrive.

KETV NewsWatch 7 viewers are the first in Omaha to view these unique, up-to-the-minute traffic reports to better plan their commute and travel.  Striking graphics and easy to understand maps, icons and real-time traffic speeds provide a high-impact overview of regional road conditions, while allowing KETV’s Traffic To Go reporter to “fly” into traffic hotspots or highlight late-breaking news.  Up-to-the-minute traffic maps, incidents, cameras and drive times are also available at www.KETV.com/traffictogo.

“Traffic has always been an important concern for our NewsWatch 7 audience and we are excited to be at the forefront of traffic reporting data and technology,” says KETV News Director Rose Ann Shannon.  “Our viewers rely on us for breaking traffic news and updates that allow them to make better decisions – such as what route to take or when to leave.   The Beat the Traffic® system allows KETV’s Traffic To Go reporter to produce dynamic, high-impact traffic updates.  Its unique graphical presentation and ease of use for our traffic team has allowed KETV to take traffic reporting in Omaha to the next level.”

“We are proud to support KETV NewsWatch 7 and its Omaha viewers”, says Andre Gueziec, President and CEO of Triangle Software, LLC, makers of the Beat the Traffic® software. “We are confident that KETV NewsWatch 7 viewers and web site visitors will appreciate the easy-to-understand traffic maps and benefit from the detailed incident, road speed and travel time information we provide.”
