CAMPBELL, CALIF.―In January 2009, KIRO 7 Eyewitness News launched the Beat the Traffic® software for KIRO’s on-air presentation of traffic reports. Jenni Hogan, KIRO 7’s traffic anchor, reports on her experience with the launch:
“The Beat the Traffic technicians were extremely helpful and quick in their installation and training. Throughout the process they created new functions that would help us give viewers what they need to get a head start on their day. For example, one of our goals was to show ferry delays in a way that is easily understood at a glance. The team came back to us with an animated ferry route that we can now change to red if there is an alert on a certain run.
“The software partners well with the WSDOT live cameras and it has a feature that gives us the ability to extract website still shots from the maps. This allows us to cover our entire viewing area, which extends beyond the WSDOT cameras. Beat the Traffic truly sets us apart from the competition and gives us an edge.”
“Beat the Traffic helped us gain a competitive advantage by customizing our maps to the look we wanted and they created new elements that are exclusive in our market,” says Todd Mokhtari, KIRO 7’s news director and web manager. “The staff was easy to work with and gave us the attention we needed to have a clean launch, a unique product and a system that is easy for our viewers to see and understand.”
“We are proud that KIRO 7 chose Beat the Traffic® to power their on-air transportation reporting system” says Andre Gueziec, President and CEO of Triangle Software, LLC, makers of the Beat the Traffic software. Our team works closely with each customer to customize our solution to the needs of the station and market. It was a pleasure to work with the innovative team at KIRO to create a striking, viewer-friendly experience that will help Jenni deliver market-leading traffic reports.
